None of them really fit, do they? And what about ‘N.S.’ … what does it stand for? Something in Philadelphia, no doubt.
And here I thought Google knew everything!
This token showed up in a recent request to CoinQuest. This was the second time. We were asked about this token years ago, and try as we might, we could not find what NSLRA stood for back then. We didn’t know then, and we don’t know now.
If you can help, please tell us. Leave your comment on this post or write to us at info17@coinquest.com. A web reference would be nice, but I don’t think one exists.
The token does not show on Numista or CoinCommunity or CoinTalk or even WorldofCoins, which rarely misses anything. But it appears in the mighty TokenCatalog. Trouble is, the Token Catalog has pictures only, no explanations. Our requestor, of course, wants to know what NSLRA stands for.
Our CoinQuest page on this token appears here. If you have an answer, we will publish it on our page, and the mystery will be solved.
Hooray. Tom. You did it! I'll write it up and put the info on the CoinQuest page. The Northside Lithuanian Republican Alliance club for Lithuanian immagrants was founded in 1908 as a fraternal organization "believing that the best interests of citizens and prospective citizens of the United States are to be found in club life and that these people are naturally inclined toward fraternalism." The NSLRA clubhouse was originally located at 1011 Fairmount Avenue but then moved a few blocks to 1218-20 Wallace Street, where the new clubhouse still stands.
